Ingredients:
- Chickpeas – 4 cups (soaked overnight)
- Potatoes – 2
- Onion (finely chopped) – 1 cup
- Green chilies (finely chopped) – ½ cup
- Chaat spices – 1 to 1 ½ tbs
- Red chili powder 1 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Tamarind – 1 cup
- Chaat spices – 1 tsp
- Cumin powder – ½ tsp
- Red chili powder – ½ tsp
- Dried red chili flakes – 1 tbs
- Sugar – 1 tbs
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Oil – 1 tsp
Preparation:
- Boil the chickpeas with enough water; it may take 1-2 hours. Boil the potatoes and cut them into small pieces.
- For the tamarind sauce, soak the tamarind in 1 cup of water for some time until it becomes really soft. Now mix it well with water and strain it on a sieve. Mix all the spices and oil with the tamarind water and put it on stove on medium heat. After 20 minutes when it will get thicker, remove from the stove.
- Combine the chickpeas, potatoes, onion, green chilies along with the spices and ¼ of the tamarind sauce in a bowl. Mix them well and serve them with rest of the tamarind sauce.
